Here at BookBot, security and privacy are everything.

Here are the appropriate measures we have taken to ensure BookBot is secure

and users’ activity is kept safe:

Passwords are stored securely, as hashed strings - not stored in plaintext. This means that even if someone gains access to the database they do not have access to users’ passwords.

The images and video feeds captured by the vision subsystem for identifying and tracking books are processed in real-time locally on BookBot and are discarded immediately after processing has finished.

The system operates locally through the library’s network and is not connected to the Internet. We do not share data with any third party.
